Job Description
Summary: NOV is seeking a UI/UX Design Intern to support the design and optimization of digital experiences. The intern will assist in creating user-centered designs by contributing to research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design efforts while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design of user interfaces for web and digital applications, including layouts, components, and visual elements
- Learn and apply accessibility best practices as part of the design process
- Experiment with IT-approved AI-assisted creative and development tools where appropriate
- Explore and pitch design improvements based on usability, visual clarity, brand alignment, content goals, and emerging digital design patterns
- Assist in creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Participate in user research activities such as surveys, competitive analysis, and usability testing
- Collaborate with designers, developers, and marketing team members to ensure cohesive and user-friendly experiences
- Help maintain and evolve design systems, including UI components and style guidelines
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and users to refine designs
- Ensure consistency in visual design, interaction patterns, and brand standards across digital touchpoints
- Prepare design assets and specifications for development handoff
- Support additional design or administrative tasks as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in UI/UX Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
- Basic understanding of UI/UX principles, including usability, accessibility, and responsive design
- Familiarity with design and prototyping tools (Figma preferred; Adobe Creative Suite is a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn, iterate, and receive feedback
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a team environment
- Portfolio demonstrating design thinking and creative problem-solving (student work is absolutely welcome)
