Job Description
Summary: Northwestern Mutual is a strong, innovative, and growing company that invests in its people. They are seeking a Cyber Security Intern for a 10-week summer program to work on identifying malicious code, conducting risk assessments, and supporting identity management while gaining hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools.
Responsibilities:
- Aligned and hired to specific teams based on abilities and interests
- Cybersecurity Internship looks for candidates passionate about identifying malicious code, forensics analysis, incident handling, and more
- Conduct risk assessments, support identity management, and deliver security awareness training
- Capture and analyze security metrics and participate in logging, incident response, and vulnerability management
- Hands-on work experience with cybersecurity tools
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following is useful: Java, Python, C++, C#, PL/SQL, VB.Net, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, or database development (Oracle, MS SQL, or MySQL)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous cyber security/technology internship and/or relevant project experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Displays analytical and problem-solving ability
- High degree of self-motivation, passion, and strive to learn
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
- Knowledge of SharePoint administration a plus
- Ability to recognize network, software, and hardware issues
- General database knowledge, basic SQL, and Object-oriented design (OOD) skills
