Job Description
Summary: NorthMark Compute & Cloud (NMC²) is a technology-driven company focused on enhancing high-performance computing and cloud infrastructure. They are seeking a highly motivated intern to support strategic initiatives related to Large Language Models (LLMs), process improvement, and operational excellence, working directly with leadership on impactful projects.
Responsibilities:
- Work hands-on with LLMs to support internal innovation and automation
- Contribute to the development of 'Wall of Truth' (vibe coding) and other LLM-driven tools
- Develop and test prompt frameworks and maintain documentation for repeatable LLM workflows
- Assist with prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines, and evaluation of LLM outputs (quality, bias, safety, hallucination rates)
- Help implement fine-tuning and instruction-tuning workflows using modern tooling frameworks
- Assist in evaluating and comparing LLM outputs for quality, accuracy, and usefulness
- Help define and formalize commitment-stage criteria for projects and initiative lifecycle phases
- Build end-to-end item lists and process maps for upcoming initiatives
- Develop visibility mechanisms that communicate project progression clearly and automatically
- Support creation of KPI dashboards and success measurements aligned to business goals
- Build dashboards/visualizations in Power BI to track metrics and visualize success indicators
- Analyze operational and project data using Excel (including Pivot Tables)
- Collaborate with engineers to improve latency, cost, and reliability of LLM services and document findings/best practices
- Connect automated data sources to dashboards or tools where possible (e.g., Python scripts, APIs, or Power Automate)
- Apply Theory of Constraints and other improvement methodologies to identify bottlenecks and opportunities
- Assist with documenting current-state workflows and identifying improvement opportunities using structured methods
- Assist in the design and automation of asset management systems
- Support supply chain visibility and process automation
- Collaborate on pricing and procurement operationalization, including work with Coupa
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or other closely related discipline
- Strong live-coding ability (any major language acceptable; Python preferred)
- Experience with or strong interest in LLMs and applied AI
- Proficiency with Power BI and Excel (including pivot tables)
- Strong learning agility and adaptability — able to pick up new tools and concepts quickly
- Ability to break down ambiguous problems and propose structured solutions
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to execute improvement tasks directly – we are looking for doers, not observers
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, or workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate)
- Basic understanding of data modeling, ETL concepts, or dashboard integrations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passion for working with AI/LLM models and modern tooling
- Robust problem-solving skills and critical thinking
- Experience with at least one ML/AI framework
- Exposure to RAG, vector databases, evaluation frameworks (e.g., prompting metrics, golden sets, human-in-the-loop)
- Understanding of LLM safety, guardrails, and responsible AI considerations
- Exposure to continuous improvement frameworks (Theory of Constraints, Lean, Six Sigma)
- Interest or coursework in supply chain, process design, or systems thinking
Required Skills: LLMs, Python, Power BI
Important Skills: Excel, SQL, Workflow automation
Nice-to-Have Skills: Learning agility
