Job Description
Summary: The City of Newark is looking to hire an Engineering Technician in the Public Works Department. The role involves managing traffic systems, reviewing development plans, and supporting construction projects while fostering positive community relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Performing a variety of functions such as managing traffic signal and street light systems, including invoice processing, budget management, and conducting traffic studies
- Reviewing development plans for code compliance
- Issuing permits
- Preparing written responses
- Performing site inspections
- Creating maps
- Supporting the Public Works Inspector on construction projects
- Maintaining positive relationships with coworkers and the public
Required Qualifications:
- Possession of an Associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering or a related field
- Six (6) months of surveying, or other related civil engineering experience with a municipality, county government, or consulting firm under the general supervision of a civil engineer
- Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment
