Summary: The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is offering an internship position with the City of Boise in the Public Works Climate Action division. The intern will assist in climate action projects, focusing on program design, implementation, and evaluation, while leading community engagement efforts related to neighborhood centers. Responsibilities: - Lead community engagement activities to gather input and build relationships with residents and stakeholders (50%) - Plan and coordinate efforts that inform decision-making related to neighborhood centers (30%) - Support the development of neighborhood centers as trusted, year-round community spaces and emergency resource hubs (20%) - Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - Experience or interest in environmental or climate studies - Interest and knowledge in project management, community partnerships and engagement - Familiar with environmental regulations, greenhouse gas emissions, and nature-based solutions - Ability to stay organized and work independently - Undergraduate or graduate students with a strong academic record or graduated in the last 12 months from an accredited university - Majoring in environmental studies/science, geosciences, environmental management, or related fields - Be able to work up to 20 hours per week - Be able to commit to the entire internship program - Valid state-issued driver's license - City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation - Driving Record Check Preferred Qualifications: - Two letters of recommendation Required Skills: Environmental studies, Climate studies, Environmental regulations, Greenhouse gas emissions, Nature-based solutions, Project management Benefits: All temporary or part-time employees working 19-hours or less are not eligible for benefits.
