Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Nordson Corporation in Norwich, CT

Summary: Nordson EFD is a global leader in Engineered Fluid Dispensing, and they are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join their team. The role involves performing engineering tasks, assisting with validation activities, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards while contributing to a collaborative environment. Responsibilities: - Assist with validation activities such as IQ/OQ/PQ testing for new mold tools or equipment - Measure parts, perform functional testing, perform data analysis, and write qualification report - 5S Production Floor - Tape out area using 5S principles for proper flow and safety in production - Set up new conveyor systems for use in production - Determine ways to reduce conversion costs - Organize WIP and Finished Goods areas - Check 2D and 3D engineering drawings to ensure compliance to Nordson standards. Verify with molded parts that drawings are correct - Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities - Prepare and update work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation - Develop Bill of Materials and manufacturing routings - Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - Must be currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in an engineering field - Proficient in 3D CAD Design software (SolidWorks preferred) - Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Basic knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning software (SAP and IQMS preferred) - Willing to be hands on in the manufacturing facility - Excellent verbal and written communication - Self-Motivated and the ability to multitask Preferred Qualifications: - SolidWorks preferred - SAP and IQMS preferred Required Skills: 3D CAD Design Important Skills: Microsoft Office, Enterprise Resource Planning Nice-to-Have Skills: Multitasking, Verbal Communication, Written Communication, Self-Motivated
