Security Control Assessor at Next Step Innovation in Clinton, MS

Job Description:

• Plan and execute assessments of security controls to determine their effectiveness in protecting information systems and data.
• Conduct technical testing, document reviews, and personnel interviews to gather evidence and validate control implementation.
• Ensure that information systems comply with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, including NIST Special Publication 800-53 Revisions 4 and 5.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in security standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Contribute to the organization's risk management process by identifying and communicating security weaknesses and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to address identified vulnerabilities.
• Work closely with system owners, information security officers, and other stakeholders to provide guidance and support on security control implementation and assessment.
• Coordinate assessment activities with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
• Prepare comprehensive assessment reports detailing findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
• Maintain assessment records and ensure they are organized, complete, and readily available for audits and reviews.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• DOD Secret Security Clearance
• Bachelor's Degree

Candidate can live anywhere in the lower 48 states within a reasonable distance of Redstone Arsenal, AL and works from home as taskings allow.
