About HDC
The New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is a public benefit corporation and the nation’s largest municipal Housing Finance Agency. HDC seeks to increase the supply of multi-family housing, stimulate economic growth, and revitalize neighborhoods by financing the creation and preservation of affordable housing for low-, moderate, and middle-income New Yorkers. HDC’s programs support the construction and preservation of multi-family affordable housing in New York City.

Position Type: Fall 2026
Office Location: NYC/Financial District
Hourly Rate: Undergrad $18.00/hour
If requested, HDC will support an intern’s application for credit or stipend from their school/university.
Position Summary:
The insurance team monitors that projects serviced by HDC have insurance in place at all times and ensures that premium invoices are paid in time for escrowed projects.
Responsibilities:
- Obtaining evidence of insurance and premium invoices from the insurance agents/brokers.
- Review and catalog insurance certificates into KnowledgeLake.
- Ensuring insurance records in Benedict are up-to-date.
- Working with the Loan Servicing Administrators and Managing Agents to ensure insurance compliance.
- Assisting in process efficiencies strategies
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a BA, BS degree. This internship is open to all majors, but see “preferred qualifications” below for coursework areas most relevant to this opportunity
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Pivot Table)
- Understanding of basic mortgage and/or insurance concepts helpful
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intermediate coursework in finance, accounting, economics, or public administration
- Knowledge of Federal, New York State, and New York City affordable housing programs is a plus
