Job Description
Summary: New Hope Center for Grief Support is dedicated to supporting children, teens, and families who have experienced loss. The Circles of Hope Program Coordinator leads peer-led grief support initiatives, coordinating various programs and ensuring effective support for participants.
Responsibilities:
- Using an evidence-based curriculum, creates, prepares, and executes lesson plans and agendas for New Hope Center for Grief Support’s child, teen, and family peer-led groups
- Serves as the point of contact for school partners
- Assists with the “Train the Trainer” program for school staff
- Facilitates all school-based grief support groups and teen groups
- Coordinates with the Grief Care & Volunteer Manager to recruit programming volunteers
- Trains and schedules the volunteers needed for child, teen, and family peer-led group programming
- Collects and maintains program and evaluation data to maintain accurate and timely records and reports, including attendance, permission forms, surveys, and other program data
- Assists with the coordination and production of the annual summer Kids’ Camp
- Participates in professional development opportunities centered on grief education
- Supports other related responsibilities as needed to support the success of the organization’s mission
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, child development, social work, psychology, or health and human services required
- Highly organized, strong work ethic, self-starter, and enjoys working with children, teens, and families
- Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills
- 1-3 years of experience working with children, teens, and families
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, as necessary
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel a 25+ mile radius from the main office, if necessary
- Competency with daily use of software and data entry, including Microsoft Office applications
- Able to meet all requirements necessary to pass relevant government background checks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work preferred
- Experience leading volunteers preferred
