Job Description
Summary: Neurocrine Biosciences is a leading neuroscience-focused biopharmaceutical company dedicated to discovering and developing life-changing treatments for patients. The Process Chemistry Intern will gain drug substance and manufacturing experience, supporting various activities such as reaction optimization and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting a range of activities, including reaction optimization, compound isolation, and utilizing analytical instrumentation
- Exploring alternative synthetic routes
- Interacting with the Analytical Development and Product Development areas within the company
- Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class
- Completing a special project and presenting the recommendations to senior management upon completion
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in chemistry with an interest in biotechnology and/or organic chemistry
- Must have completed a minimum 1 year of organic chemistry coursework
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think creatively and be a team player
- Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program
- Lab Work Requirements: full-time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior academic research experience in organic chemistry or in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry would be an asset but is not required
- Familiarity with biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences (organic chemistry and/or chemical engineering), product development, and regulatory approval processes is desirable
- Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
