NetBird→
Talent Acquisition Lead at NetBird in Berlin
Job Description
🏢 Who we are
A team from Germany with the vision to make advanced network security accessible for everyone
We are a software company developing an open source zero-trust network security platform that is both easy to use and affordable for teams of all sizes and budgets. Our mission is grounded in a simple yet powerful belief: secure private networking is a fundamental right of every modern company.
Since our launch on GitHub in 2021, we have gained trust among thousands of companies seeking secure and seamless solutions for connecting remote employees and infrastructure. By replacing traditional centralized VPNs, NetBird has become a trusted choice for modern network security, connecting today hundreds of thousands of users and machines worldwide. Our open source, community-driven approach has been a key driver of our success. We listen to our users, and their input helps us make network security better for everyone.

✏️ What you will do
As Talent Acquisition Lead at NetBird, you'll own how we find and win the people who build NetBird. We're growing fast, with lots of roles to fill across Engineering, GTM and Operations. Today our founders and hiring managers run most of the process themselves. You'll take that over end to end, from the first conversation to a signed offer, and build the hiring engine we need as we scale. You'll work closely with our Chief of Staff and every team lead.
You will:
Own full-cycle hiring across Engineering, GTM and Operations, from role kickoff to offer and close.
Source proactively for hard technical roles (Go, networking, platform, security), through GitHub, the open source community, events and your own network, instead of waiting for inbound.
Run the first conversation with candidates and be the person they trust throughout the process.
Partner with hiring managers to sharpen role definitions, scorecards and interview loops, and help interviewers give clear, consistent feedback.
Own job postings, interview plans, pipeline hygiene and reporting, so everyone knows where each role stands.
Track what matters, from time to hire and pipeline conversion to offer acceptance, and use it to fix what's slowing us down.
Turn our open source presence into an employer brand that makes great people want to talk to us.
Run offers and closing together with the founders, and hand new hires over smoothly to onboarding.
This is a hands-on role in a small team. You'll run searches yourself, and you'll shape how hiring works at NetBird as we grow.
🔎 What we are looking for
We're looking for a recruiter who can hold their own in a conversation with a senior engineer, likes structure, and gets energy from closing great candidates. Many of the best recruiters we know learned the craft at a recruiting agency or in a fast-growing startup, and if that's you, we'd especially love to hear from you. Agency experience counts as much as in-house: we care about how well you source, assess and close, not where you did it.
Must-Haves
2 to 5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience with a strong share of technical roles, at a recruiting agency or in-house at a startup or scale-up.
A track record of sourcing and hiring software engineers, ideally for backend, infrastructure or security roles.
Enough technical curiosity to understand what our teams build and to tell a strong engineering profile from a keyword match.
You work with data and use it to improve the process, not just report on it.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. You write outreach people actually answer.
You work AI native. You use AI tools every day, for example to source, screen or draft outreach, and you know where they help and where they don't.
Comfortable in a fast-growing team where processes are still being built.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience hiring for open source, developer tools, infrastructure or security companies.
Experience hiring GTM roles such as Sales, Solutions Engineering or DevRel.
Experience hiring across Europe, including relocation to Berlin.
Experience building an employer brand or a talent community from scratch.
🌟 What makes you a great fit
These are the values we work by as a team, and what they mean for this role:
Own the outcome: Small team, real scope. You own each role until the right person signs, and you fix the process instead of working around it.
Default to candor: Direct, kind, and specific, with candidates, hiring managers and founders alike. You say no early and explain why.
Stay close to the user: You take the time to understand our product and the community behind it, so you can explain to candidates why NetBird matters.
😌 What's in it for you
We know that happy and supported team members build the best products. That's why we offer:
Competitive compensation including salary and equity.
Hybrid Cowork model in our new Berlin office with flexibility for remote days.
Build the function: You set up how NetBird hires, with real ownership from day one.
Close collaboration with our founders and every team lead.
The essentials done well: team lunches, team events, and health and fitness programs (e.g., Wellpass).
If you don't tick every box, apply anyway.
