Job Description
Summary: NEOO Partners Inc. is a community-centered planning, real estate, and development advisory firm. The Planning Analyst is an early-career professional who supports research, data analysis, deliverable drafting, project coordination, community engagement, and business development activities for planning and community development projects.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research related to demographics, land use, zoning, real estate trends, economic conditions, public policy, infrastructure, housing, community assets, displacement risk, and local market conditions
- Gather and analyze data from public agencies, census sources, GIS platforms, market reports, local plans, stakeholder interviews, surveys, and other relevant sources
- Support existing conditions analysis, needs assessments, baseline studies, policy scans, precedent research, and community profiles
- Prepare clear summaries of research findings, trends, implications, and recommended next steps
- Help distinguish between raw data, background research, analysis, findings, takeaways, and recommendations
- Draft findings and recommendations that connect research to project goals, community priorities, and implementation needs
- Support the development of maps, charts, tables, diagrams, case studies, and visual summaries
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or questions in available data and elevate them to the Senior Planning Project Manager
- Use research and analysis to help project teams understand what is happening, why it matters, and what actions may be needed
- Draft sections of plans, reports, memos, strategy documents, executive summaries, presentation decks, and community-facing materials
- Prepare clear written content that is accurate, organized, concise, and aligned with project direction
- Support the development of findings, conclusions, takeaways, recommendations, action steps, and implementation language
- Convert research and data into client-ready narrative, visuals, tables, maps, and presentation materials
- Support the production of final deliverables by formatting, organizing, editing, proofreading, and refining documents
- Help prepare meeting materials, workshop boards, presentation slides, handouts, survey summaries, and public engagement materials
- Incorporate feedback from the Senior Planning Project Manager, project leadership, clients, and team members
- Track revisions, comments, version control, citations, file organization, and supporting documentation
- Ensure assigned deliverable sections are submitted on time, complete, and ready for review
- Support final deliverable quality by checking for accuracy, consistency, readability, formatting, and visual clarity
- Support project managers with task tracking, schedules, meeting preparation, work plan updates, and deliverable timelines
- Participate in internal project meetings, client meetings, community meetings, and team check-ins
- Prepare agendas, meeting notes, action items, research summaries, and follow-up materials
- Track assigned tasks, deadlines, review comments, project files, and deliverable components
- Coordinate with Planning Coordinators, other analysts, designers, consultants, and project team members as needed
- Support the organization of project folders, data sources, engagement materials, meeting records, and deliverable drafts
- Communicate task progress, questions, risks, and capacity concerns to the Senior Planning Project Manager in a timely manner
- Help ensure project work is organized, documented, and easy for other team members to access and use
- Support the preparation of engagement materials, including presentation slides, workshop boards, surveys, discussion guides, sign-in sheets, handouts, and meeting summaries
- Assist with stakeholder interviews, focus groups, public meetings, workshops, pop-ups, advisory committee meetings, and community events
- Take notes, document themes, summarize input, and identify key takeaways from engagement activities
- Help translate community input into clear findings that can inform project recommendations
- Support the development of accessible, culturally aware, and visually clear engagement materials
- Assist with survey development, survey analysis, comment coding, and engagement summary reports
- Help ensure community voices, lived experience, and stakeholder perspectives are accurately reflected in project deliverables
- Provide logistical support for meetings and engagement activities as needed
- Support proposal development by preparing project descriptions, resumes, graphics, case studies, research summaries, and draft proposal language
- Assist with RFP/RFQ research, opportunity tracking, and background research on prospective clients or markets
- Help prepare presentation materials, interview decks, qualifications packages, and internal strategy documents
- Support internal templates, tools, research libraries, data resources, and planning practice materials
- Contribute to project case studies, thought leadership, blog posts, conference materials, or internal knowledge sharing as assigned
- Maintain organized project files, data sources, notes, drafts, and supporting documentation
- Follow NEOO’s file management, communication, quality control, and project documentation protocols
- Complete timesheets, task updates, and administrative requirements accurately and on time
- Support meeting logistics, scheduling, document preparation, printing, formatting, and coordination as needed
- Help ensure project information is documented so future team members can understand what decisions were made, why they were made, and what must happen next
Required Qualifications:
- • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Public Policy, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Real Estate, Community Development, Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, Engineering, Urban Studies, or a closely related field
- • 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in planning, community development, economic development, real estate, public policy, urban design, research, public engagement, infrastructure planning, or a related field
- • Demonstrated experience contributing to analysis, findings, recommendations, or written sections of final deliverables
- • Strong writing skills, including the ability to summarize research, synthesize findings, and draft clear recommendations
- • Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to gather, organize, interpret, and present information
- • Ability to support reports, presentations, memos, engagement summaries, maps, charts, and client-facing materials
- • Ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining organization, accuracy, and responsiveness
- • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work with internal teams, clients, consultants, and community stakeholders
- • Ability to receive direction, incorporate feedback, ask clarifying questions, and improve work products through review cycles
- • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables
