Job Description
Summary: Navy Federal Credit Union is a leading financial institution focused on providing exceptional service and innovative solutions. The Intern in Fraud Data Engineering & Governance will support the Systems and Technology branch by assisting with data engineering and governance tasks, including documentation, project management, and data analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior staff with various tasks, including business and technical requirements documentation
- Own and maintain consolidation and organization efforts for the team’s document repositories
- Partner with senior staff to help teams understand how data can drive improvements and review documentation
- Partner with senior staff to ensure tasks, product backlog items, and features are well-documented within Azure Dev Ops
- Apply basic project management skills to ensure the timely and efficient execution of tasks, understanding Agile and kanban methodologies
- Support the evaluation of existing designs, improve methods, and implement optimizations
- Work with senior staff to prepare project deliverables and ensure they are understood by project stakeholders
- Support business strategy and initiatives within the business unit and/or across the organization
- Perform research and analysis; may include quantitative and/or qualitative analysis
- Evaluate and recommend strategy for communications
- Ensure clear, concise and effective communication of material
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions, placing member service as priority
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Must be pursuing an advanced degree from an accredited college/university, preferably a Master's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business Analytics or related field
- Experience in composing correspondence that adheres to grammar and Navy Federal writing style and standards
- Familiarity with SharePoint (or similar tool), designing effective folder structures for document retention and organization
- Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment to make sound decisions
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Effective organizational, planning and time management skills
- Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
- Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills to communicate clearly and concisely technical and non-technical information
- Intermediate level PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Basic understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, and transfer methodologies
- Basic-to-intermediate ability in Python, SQL, R, or other coding language
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate with impact and be committed to self-development
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Jira, Asana, or similar tool
- Previous exposure to AI tools/integrations either in a professional or academic setting
- Work/intern experience in the Financial Industry
