Job Description
Summary: The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a global sports and media organization with a mission to inspire and connect people through basketball. They are seeking a Player Health Systems Analyst to support player health initiatives through data-driven insights, manage health systems, and enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Support NBA player health injury data and analytics initiatives, with a focus on data collection, analysis, and AI-driven insights related to basketball health and performance
- Assist the player health group in the overall management and administration of NBA player health systems, including interacting with the team health, performance, and operational staff on player health-related programs, and act as a point of contact for departmental questions
- Act as a liaison between NBA vendors and the Player Health department on data input and quality matters
- Perform daily operational functions related to data management, curation, and integration
- Support and improve internal reporting initiatives for key meetings, committees, and timepoints during the NBA season
- Assist in the development of AI tools and agentic systems to support player health decision-making, with an emphasis on usability and integration across health data domains
- Leverage Python and Snowflake ML to curate data streams, conduct analyses of various complexity, and build and maintain predictive models
- Leverage knowledge of basketball operations and sports analytics to contextualize injury and health data within the broader competitive and performance landscape
- Create interactive dashboards and applications to communicate health insights to internal and external stakeholders
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-clinical audiences across a multi-disciplinary group
- Support ad hoc Player Health initiatives, including offering support for key events, including but not limited to communications, planning, and operations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) preferably in the field of Data Analytics, Data Science, or an equivalent degree
- Strong project management / organizational skills and high-level attention to detail; the ability to translate project briefs into operational reality
- Excellent ability to clearly and succinctly synthesize and communicate ideas orally, in writing, and through visual presentations
- Driving high standards for individual, team, and organizational accomplishment; tenaciously working to meet or exceed challenging goals deriving satisfaction from goal achievement and continuous improvement
- Committing to working flexibly within a team and supporting the group's goals across a multifaceted player health programs
- Strong quantitative skills; the ability to be creative and possess effective problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrating strong interest in and knowledge of sports industry, athlete health, and the game of basketball
- Recognizing the necessity of appropriate confidentiality regarding sensitive information
- Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
- Maintaining a strong commitment to organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance
- Strong proficiency in drafting documents/spreadsheets and creating dynamic presentations using Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with other technical software platforms and systems would be an advantage
