NAIT’s International Department is seeking Contract Instructors to teach English for Vocational Purposes. Contract Instructors must be flexible, resourceful, innovative and passionate about teaching adults of all ages and backgrounds.
The term of these contracts will vary in length of time and duration.
Contract Instruction Deliverables:
Provide classroom and lab instruction in the following key areas: English language training
Apply intercultural competency to instruction and learner supports; learners will have various cultural backgrounds
Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies than ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
Utilize appropriate educational technology for communications and presentations, including troubleshooting
Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues; respond professionally to student issues and concerns
Maintain student attendance and other documentation as required
Liase with project support staff as needed to ensure successful delivery of training
Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with diverse learners and colleagues
A strong commitment to student success, including motivating learners and supporting language acquisition achievement
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for a virtual class setting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related educational technologies
Experience teaching learners with varying levels of English proficiency and of cultures different from their own
Qualifications:
Education – A bachelor's degree
Training or experience – 5 years experience teaching/instructing
Experience teaching full courses/programs online (live, synchronous delivery)
Licenses/Certificates – TESL Certification
Ability to work on various online platforms and education software
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
Remuneration
$70/hour instruction
$35/hour preparation
This contract is to teach online virtual classes synchronously for a group located overseas.
