Job Description
Summary: NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) is dedicated to excellence and innovation in education, seeking to enhance the international student experience. The International Engagement Assistant will support international students in their cultural transition to Canada, providing administrative support and organizing events to foster a positive community.
Responsibilities:
- Follow the required timeline to provide administrative support and assist in organizing and delivering events/programs to foster a positive student community
- Assist with recruitment, training, communication, briefing, and service hour tracking of the IICC volunteers
- Facilitate low-complexity student events and student meetings
- Perform data entries that support the International Engagement portfolio
- Develop and distribute event promotion graphics and materials
- Support the implementation of social media plan for international community engagement; this includes creating social media posts, stories, and video takeovers to drive engagement
- Connect students to different services at NAIT when appropriate
- Support front desk coverage at the IICC as needed. Duties and tasks during front desk coverage may include answering and triaging inquiries, directing students to different service areas, tracking inquiries, and performing other front desk tasks as needed
- Serve as an emcee or host for select events and activities, supporting program flow and student engagement
- Create short-form video content (e.g. Reels, Stories, etc) to promote IICC programs, services, and events, including basic filming and video editing
- Participate in promotional tabling, classroom visits, and outreach activities in high-traffic campus areas, including peer-to-peer engagement and public speaking
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Currently enrolled at NAIT as a student and will be enrolled in the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 semesters: be in good academic standing
- Demonstrated experience in student community events and program planning and support
- Demonstrated strong student leadership, organizational skills, time management skills, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated NAIT campus involvement and understanding of international student experience and needs
- Demonstrated intercultural understanding and awareness
- Ability to engage with peers in a community space and digitally on social media
- Ability to facilitate low-complexity student conversations and events
- A good understanding of the various student services at NAIT is an asset
- Familiarity with using ookslife.ca, Asana, Canva, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams is an asset
