Job Description
Summary: The N.C. Department of Information Technology is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through various operations. They are seeking an Accounting Technician II who will perform accounting work involving the maintenance and reporting of financial accounting data, including processing documents such as expense vouchers and invoices.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and processing documents such as expense vouchers, invoices, and purchase orders
- Billing, receipts, deposits, expenditures, reconciliation of financial statements, ledger posting, balancing, control, and preparation of financial reports
- Maintaining accounts and general fiscal records for a small or general fund activity; detailed subsidiary ledgers for a major division of a large department; or performing a more limited variety of bookkeeping as a part of the total accounting process of a moderate size accounting unit
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of accounting experience
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in accounting work
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job
Preferred Qualifications:
- Documented knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and accounting practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and other software (e.g.: ERP, Excel, Word, Access)
- Demonstrated ability to identify and correct routine and recurring financial problems, referring more complex problems to a higher level
