Lead Carpenter (Residential Remodeling)

Location: Chanhassen, Minnesota

Are you a master of your craft with an eye for detail and a passion for building? Murphy Bros. Design|Build|Remodel has spent 43 years making life better for our homeowners — not just different — and we're looking for a Lead Carpenter to help lead that work in the field.

As a Lead Carpenter, you'll be the hands-on expert and the steady leader on our jobsites, executing high-quality carpentry yourself while guiding and mentoring the crew around you. You'll be the person a homeowner trusts to get it right, and the person your team looks to when something needs solving.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Project Oversight

• Review, set up, and execute projects from start to finish, keeping materials and tools organized and on hand
• Troubleshoot site issues as they arise and keep work moving
• Train and oversee carpenters, laborers, and on-site trades

Hands-On Carpentry

• Frame, install doors and windows, and complete trim, cabinetry, flooring, and other structural or finish work
• Operate hand tools, machines, and power tools with precision and care
• Enforce jobsite safety protocols and keep the worksite clean and organized

Leadership & Collaboration

• Understand project requirements, timelines, and budgets, and interpret specs, sketches, and building plans
• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and make sure resources are used efficiently
• Communicate with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, and other trades to share updates and resolve issues

Documentation & Client Experience

• Complete progress reports, work logs, and material records, and communicate change orders
• Serve as a front-line point of contact for homeowners and uphold our quality standards from start to finish

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ years of experience with mastered knowledge of all aspects of carpentry
• High school diploma or equivalent required; formal training in carpentry or drafting/blueprint reading and trade certifications are a plus
• The ability to guide, instruct, and motivate others
• Proficiency in project planning, execution, and coordination
• The ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

WHY WORK FOR MURPHY BROS.

• Monday through Friday workweek
• Jobsites within the 7-county metro area
• Competitive compensation plan
• Health benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
• 401(k) with a company match up to 4%
• Paid time off plus eight paid holidays
• Mileage, tool, and cell phone reimbursement

WHAT DRIVES US

Everything we do is guided by our core values — and we're looking for a Lead Carpenter who shares them:

• Uncommon Integrity — It's what you do when no one is looking, and what you promise to do when they are.
• Get It Done with Great Care — We're committed to finishing the job, and finishing it well.
• Take Ownership — We don't wait to be told; we see what needs doing and step forward.
• Glad to See Ya! — We hire people who are easy to work with, bring solutions, and listen more than they talk.
