Job Description
Summary: Multnomah County is seeking an intern for the Prevention and Health Outreach, Promotion, and Education Internship. The role involves supporting health events, community outreach, and researching social determinants of health to enhance community health initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the planning, set-up, community outreach, and implementation of health events within Prevention and Health Promotion Unit, including TARA, CPTED/Walk audits, REACHing Farmers Markets and PRIDE NW
- Support on-site outreach, engagement, and distribution for Community Supported Agriculture Programming and Food & Vegetable Voucher/CSA Rx programs
- Participate in partnership activities with ACHIEVE Coalition Partners, such as PlayGrowLearn
- Assist with researching and updating resources related to social determinants of health, including food, transportation, health care, and employment
- Engage in intern cohort meetings, training, and job shadowing opportunities
- Complete other tasks and special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Candidates should have completed or enrolled in a college/university academic institution. Preferably a Public Health Major
- Promote a culture of respect, inclusiveness, and appreciation of diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and values
- Familiarity with Google Suite (e.g., Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to both follow directions, take initiative and work independently
- Ability to be discreet with information and keep confidentiality
