Job Description
Summary: Monument Chemical, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, serves the specialty chemicals industry and is seeking an HSE Intern. The intern will support health, safety, and environmental efforts, gaining hands-on experience with regulatory compliance and safety programs under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation and improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs, including hazard communication, regulatory compliance, and site-level safety initiatives
- Create, review, and update HSE documentation such as Safety Data Sheet (SDS) materials, training matrices, procedures, and audit support documents to promote consistency and compliance
- Support assigned HSE projects, including SDS process improvements, firefighting foam strategy development, and annual HSE training validation across multiple sites
- Stay informed on evolving HSE regulations and best practices, participate in safety meetings and training sessions, and actively seek opportunities to build knowledge and skills in environmental, health, and safety disciplines
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline
- Basic understanding of environmental, health, and safety principles, including hazard communication, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety practices
- Ability to review documentation, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to assist with documentation, reports, and training materials
- Eligible to obtain a TWIC Card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous internship, co-op, or academic project experience related to health, safety, environmental compliance, or manufacturing environments
- Preferred technical skills: Microsoft Office Suite and AI tools
