Job Description
Summary: Montrose Environmental Group is a leading global environmental solutions company dedicated to addressing complex environmental challenges. The Laboratory Analyst I will be responsible for preparing samples, operating analytical instrumentation, and ensuring high-quality analytical data in a dynamic laboratory environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate analytical instrumentation and execute assigned SVOA batches according to SOPs
- Prepare samples, standards, reagents, and calibration solutions for analysis
- Perform first-level data review to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Execute analytical methods accurately while meeting turnaround time expectations
- Maintain instrument readiness through routine checks, verifications, and documentation
- Document deviations, observations, and nonconformances in accordance with QA requirements
- Maintain accurate logbooks and data entry within LIMS
- Communicate analytical issues or atypical results to senior analysts or group leadership
- Comply with Quality Assurance Program and Health & Safety Plan
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
- Experience with analytical instrumentation and data generation preferred
- Strong attention to detail and data integrity practices
- Working knowledge of SOP-driven laboratory environments
- Proficiency with LIMS and basic data systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working with solvents, acids, and laboratory instrumentation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an environmental or regulated analytical laboratory
- Familiarity with SVOA analytical methods (e.g., 8015, 8081,8082, 608, 8270,625)
- Experience operating GC or GC/MS instrumentation
- Understanding of QA/QC concepts and first-level data review practices
- Experience working within SOP-driven and compliance-focused environments
- Ability to identify atypical results and escalate appropriately
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple batches while meeting turnaround time expectations
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision once trained
