Job Description
Summary: Montrose Environmental Group is committed to environmental responsibility and human progress, and they are seeking an Engineer/Scientist Intern. The intern will assist with various projects, interact with multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, and clients, while learning to perform technical project work in support of environmental regulatory services.
Responsibilities:
- Learn to perform technical project work in support of the Company’s environmental regulatory service’s programs
- Learn to develop business through marketing, existing client relationships, and networking
- Learn to prepare (or assist in the preparation of) compliance plans, reports, and permit applications for multiple state and federal environmental regulatory programs associated with the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, EPCRA and the Oil Pollution Prevention Act
- Learn to conduct site visits to gather data and information and collect samples (soil, water, air) to support environmental compliance at industrial, commercial, and institutional sites
- Learn to assist with environmental management system (EMS) and compliance program development
- Learn to assist with compliance plans including Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans
- Shadow and learn to perform environmental compliance audits, draft reports, and assist with corrective action programs
- Assist with communications between clients and regulators
- Maintains confidentiality at all times
- Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs
- Participates in Company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts
- Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, geology, or science discipline
- Ability to travel 25% of time
- Ability to drive to client sites
- Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organization and time/project management skills
- Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
