Job Description
Summary: Momentive is a premier global advanced materials company with a cutting-edge focus on silicones and specialty products. The intern will join the Agriculture & Performance Ingredients group to investigate enzymatic degradation of silicone copolymers and related compounds, conducting laboratory experiments and analyzing results.
Responsibilities:
- Establish laboratory and procedures for the safe conduct of enzymatic investigations
- Analyze and identify the degradation fragments from these studies using HPLC, GC, GC/MS, NMR and other applicable methods
- Interpret results, identify trends and correlations
- Able to communicate effectively (Verbal and Written) by conveying technical concepts clearly to a varied audience
- Maintains and organizes electronic/manual record-keeping systems (including technical reports, presentations) for projects and customer samples
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must be actively enrolled in a graduate or research program at the time of application and able to commit to a full‑time schedule (40 hours per week) for a nine‑month period between April and December 2026
- At least 24 - 36 months of research experience in enzymatic research on organic and/or organosilicon compounds
- Expected to complete graduate or postgraduate degree in 2026 major in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Polymer, from an accredited college/ university
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Communicate effectively both written and verbally with all organizational levels
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a team environment
- Excellent listening skills and ability to review all details prior to determining and implementing appropriate actions
- Self-sufficient, resourceful, results-driven, and accountable
- Proficiency in enzymatic reactions of organic and/or silicon- containing compounds
