Summary
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Restocking Arts in Medicine Studio Supplies, including watercolor painting string art for Origami, making String Art (B&W), Mandala Circles, & Coloring page packets for Art Bags, art supply prep for stocking different art practices
GENERAL VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to lift up to 20lbs. Must be able to comprehend and communicate oral and written instructions in English Have good interpersonal skills and communicate clearly and directly Be mature, dependable, and reliable Maintain a good attitude Be caring, empathetic and non-judgmental Maintain weekly attendances (due to nature of Moffitt’s volunteer services)
RESTRICTIONS, LIMITS AND BOUNDARIES:
The volunteer is required to keep the volunteer’s activities within the defined scope of this Service Guidelines. It is also the responsibility of the volunteer to decline a request by a Moffitt Cancer Center team member/employee or patient at any time the volunteer is physically or emotionally unprepared or unqualified to perform the volunteer service, or if the volunteer is requested to perform duties outside the scope of the Service Guideline.
The volunteer must be supervised by the Staff Liaison or designated department staff. All patient-related volunteer activities performed by volunteers must be supervised and approved by Moffitt Cancer Center professional staff who retains ultimate responsibility for the patient’s treatment and care.
The volunteer must not perform any patient-related volunteer activities that require licensure or educational degrees even if the volunteer has those credentials. The volunteer is not employed by Moffitt Cancer Center and must not exceed the limits and boundaries of the volunteer’s specified volunteer duties. The volunteer must sign the Volunteer Agreement, Patient Privacy Requirements with Volunteers, and any other forms / documents require by Moffitt Cancer Center.
Regardless of service area, these restrictions apply to all volunteers, the volunteers may not:
Lift over 20 lbs. Transport patients on stretchers Transport patients with running intravenous line (IV) Escort patients for cigarette/smoking breaks Assist patients getting in/out of hospital bed Feed patients with swallowing difficulties Strip soiled linens off beds (linens with blood or bodily fluids) Mix, serve, and handle contrast solutions or any other function requiring a license Handle bio-hazardous waste such as blood, body fluids, or sharp containers Ride elevators during a Code Red Divulge any confidential information Acknowledge any information about patients (Please refer information requests to the Staff Liaison or designated department staff.) Read or write on patient charts or other confidential documents Access Moffitt- or patient-related legal documents Make any public comments regarding patient’s treatment plan or care and/or clinic caregivers (Please direct questions or concerns directly to the department supervisor and/or the Volunteer Services Office in private to insure confidentiality.) Make inquiries to anyone about their personal belief systems such as religious preferences, political affiliations and other sensitive issues that may be regarded as intrusive, discriminatory, or harassing Give patients food or beverages without the prior approval from the department staff caring for that patient Volunteer when ill or contagious as directed in the Volunteer Services Infection Control Policy
