Summary: Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc. is seeking a Civil Project Engineer in Chicago, IL. The role involves performing engineering design to meet client and regulatory requirements, preparing project documents, and coordinating infrastructure improvements with the Chicago Department of Transportation. Responsibilities: - Perform engineering design to client and regulatory requirements - Prepare project documents plans and reports utilizing Computer Aided Design and Drafting - Work directly with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) as part of the Chicago Works Program - Assist CDOT with the oversight of the design and engineering of multiple, city-wide, infrastructure improvements to various infrastructure projects - This work involves project coordination, programming estimates and budgets, design support and reviews, and coordination for the Arterial Street Resurfacing program and other projects - These projects typically involve the development of calculations, detailed construction plans and specifications for projects involving drainage, grading, pavement, utilities, maintenance of traffic, structures, and traffic signals - Clients frequently include the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Tollway, Cook County Highway Department, and the City of Chicago - Software used typically includes AutoCAD/Civil 3D/XPSWMM, MicroStation/Open Roads, Synchro, ArcGIS, and the Microsoft Office Suite - Perform engineering design to client and regulatory requirements - Prepare project documents plans and reports utilizing Computer Aided Design and Drafting - Data entry into various platforms - Organize and maintain project files - Perform calculations and analysis - Prepare design calculations using appropriate tools and/or software - Prepare cost estimates and analyze material costs Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field - Experience as a Civil Engineer or in a related role - Experience with ArcGIS software - Experience with AutoCAD software - Experience with Synchro software - Experience with ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems & Autonomous Vehicles) - Experience with Traffic Engineering and MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) - Experience with Crash Analyses & Reports Required Skills: Civil Engineering, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Traffic Engineering Important Skills: Synchro, ITS, Crash Analyses Nice-to-Have Skills: Construction Management, Microsoft Office Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, Medical plans w/ HRA, FSAs, Dental, Vision, Life, Dependent care, Transit, Parking, Disability coverage, 401(k) w/ company match, Voluntary benefits, Life and AD&D insurance, STD/LTD, PTO
