Job Description
Summary: Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading technology company that empowers innovation through a diverse and collaborative culture. They are seeking a highly motivated Electronic Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience across various engineering disciplines, including Applications Engineering, Product Marketing, Product Engineering, Validation Engineering, and Test Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Support evaluation of new semiconductor products and reference designs
- Assist in bench testing, debugging, data collection, and performance analysis
- Help prepare technical collateral such as application notes, user guides, or demo materials
- Participate in customer-facing technical discussions with guidance from senior engineers
- Assist with competitive analysis, market research, and product positioning activities
- Support the creation of technical presentations, block diagrams, and product messaging
- Help analyze customer requirements and translate them into product feature recommendations
- Aid in silicon characterization, data analysis, and yield-related investigations
- Review product specs, test results, and failure analysis reports
- Participate in product qualification activities and support engineering evaluations
- Exposure to Automated Test Equipment (ATE) use and test solution hardware and software development, Printed Circuit Board design/debug/verification, and data analysis
- Support product qualification, characterization, and manufacturing improvement activities
- Assist with maintaining test documentation, code & scripts, and process flows
- Learn engineering software and tools to develop automation bench systems
- Participate in troubleshooting, measurement, and validation activities
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations
- Si Verification test benches and simulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project goals
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Fundamental understanding of electronics, circuit theory, and semiconductor concepts
- Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, and signal generators
- Basic proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, MATLAB, C, or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and willingness to learn across multiple engineering domains
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior academic or hobbyist experience with embedded systems, power electronics, analog circuits, or mixed‑signal design
- Exposure to data analysis tools (Excel, Python, JMP, etc.)
- Familiarity with CAD or simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Altium, C++, LabVIEW, Python etc.)
- Interest in the semiconductor product development lifecycle
