Summary: Microchip Technology Inc. is a global leader in technology development, and they are seeking a new college graduate to join their Edge AI software engineering team. The role involves developing software-as-a-service applications for AI/ML solutions, collaborating with other engineers, and gaining hands-on experience in software development techniques and cloud services. Responsibilities: - Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new and existing software applications using JavaScript, React.js, Python, HTML, MySQL - Develop, test and document software application code for our AI/ML applications that will be used by the company and our customers - Collaborate in an agile development environment with your team members on application requirements and propose innovative solutions - Work closely with technical leads and other engineers to understand requirements, milestones, and deliverables to build software and SAAS-based products - Utilize best practices in software development, including code reviews, unit testing, integration, CI/CD and DevOps workflows, Software Defined Lifecycle and software security requirements - Contribute in developing SAAS applications in a cloud-hosted environment - Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards - Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and issues - Assist with the documentation of software solutions, including technical specifications and user guides - Work with customers and provide support to end-users when necessary - Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in software development, AI/ML and edge computing technologies to ensure our solutions remain at the cutting edge - Work in a team environment, developing and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field - College coursework and 0-3 years of experience on software development and software project experience using an Agile software development lifecycle workflow - Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns - Familiarity with SQL and database design concepts - Coursework in programming languages Java, C, C++, C#, Python, JavaScript or JavaScript-based frameworks such as React.js, Angular.js, or Vue.js - Coursework or project experience with web development using languages and technologies such as Python, PHP, Angular.js, React.js, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, XML/YAML and OAuth API communication methods - Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team - Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field - Knowledge in using machine learning development tools and frameworks, such as the MPLAB Machine Learning Development Suite and Python AI/ML libraries using TensorFlow/TFLite, Pytorch, Keras, and ONNX - Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) and edge-to-cloud integration - Use of Agentic AI in software development and MCP server development - Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Github/Gitlab/Bitbucket tools - Knowledge of data collection, preprocessing, and training neural networks in data centers - Solid understanding of edge computing architectures, including IoT devices, embedded systems, and real-time processing - Knowledge of IoT embedded computing and software/firmware development on hardware - Experience with edge computing platforms and optimizing AI/ML models for resource-constrained devices Required Skills: AI/ML development, Software development, Cloud services Important Skills: JavaScript, Python, SQL, Full stack web development Nice-to-Have Skills: Eagerness to learn Benefits: Health benefits that begin day one, Retirement savings plans, Industry leading ESPP program with a 2 year look back feature
