Job Description
Summary: Microchip Technology Inc. is a global leader in technology solutions, seeking a Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance Automated Test Equipment systems. The role involves designing automated test software and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure compliance with product specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test software for production environments
- Implement test sequences that measure key product parameters in compliance with formal product specifications
- Develop applications using C, C#, Python, VB.NET, SQL, and related languages
- Interface with and control industrial and laboratory equipment, including Environmental Chambers, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Frequency Counters, Phase Noise Analyzers, and RF/Timing Measurement Instruments
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define test requirements
- Troubleshoot test failures and perform root-cause analysis
- Improve test architectures, automation frameworks, and data analysis tools
- Generate documentation for software, procedures, and test systems
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Person capable of working with products and information controlled under EAR and ITAR regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 0 - 2 years of experience developing automated test systems or equivalent engineering software
- Strong proficiency in C, C#, Python, VB.NET, SQL, and related development tools
- Understanding of electrical circuits, measurement fundamentals, and signal analysis
- Understanding of software-based control of test instruments and industrial equipment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Experience developing automated test sequences for manufacturing or engineering environments
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing automated test systems or equivalent engineering software
- Experience with RF, timing, or frequency-control products (oscillators, OCXOs, atomic clocks)
- Knowledge of automation frameworks and data analysis tools
- Experience with precision measurement systems and long-term stability testing
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous-improvement practices
