Job Description
Summary: The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a state-established cooperative that provides water for 19 million people across six counties. They are seeking an Assistant Engineer I to support the Corrosion Engineering Team in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure assets through assessments, testing, and continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Learn and assist with infrastructure reliability assessments
- Support construction materials performance testing and evaluation efforts
- Help develop and implement solutions to prevent infrastructure failures and rehabilitate assets
- Learn and assist with forensic investigations related to materials and metallurgy
- Support efforts to ensure compliance with reliability and performance standards
- Collaborate with engineers, operations staff, and external partners
- Build foundational engineering skills through hands-on projects and field support
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field by hired date
- Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment
