Job Description
Summary: Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking an Emerging Talent Intern for their Data Analytics department. The intern will support the product management function by translating business needs into project requirements and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and maintain project charters for new and active D&A initiatives
- Write Jira epics, stories, and tasks based on stakeholder requirements and team discussions
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to track data access requests and deliverables
- Support documentation for data classification and governance
- Attend and take notes in stakeholder and vendor meetings, following up on action items
- Review and triage incoming project requests, gathering missing context before escalating
- Assist in preparing materials for leadership reviews of the team's project portfolio
- Support QA of delivered data products by comparing outputs against documented requirements
- Support the scoping and requirements documentation for the rebuild of MTA's external metrics site, including stakeholder coordination and work planning within the D&A team
- Support the planning and implementation of MTA-wide data community meetings and tutorials to upskill data users
- Maintain and improve the team's project tracking infrastructure in Jira, including drafting epics and tickets, ensuring statuses are current, and producing a summary of open work for team leadership
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player
- Matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
- Major(s) Preferred: Computer Science (with interest in non-engineering roles), Information Systems, Data or Business Analytics, or related field
