Summary: Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a Data Engineer Intern for the summer to join their Strategic Initiatives team. The intern will be responsible for building and maintaining tooling for data pipelines, improving code documentation processes, and developing devops solutions. Responsibilities: - Build and maintain tooling for orchestrating data pipelines - Improve codebase testing and alerting frameworks - Manage and improve infrastructure-as-code repositories - Improve code documentation processes - Conduct root cause analyses in response to issues - Develop and maintain devops solutions - Attendance at daily stand-ups - Other tasks as assigned to problem-solve and achieve the goals of the team Required Qualifications: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must - The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills - The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively - The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player - Strong skills in Python and SQL - Experience using Git - Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA - All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application - Students' transcript must be submitted Preferred Qualifications: - Major(s) Preferred: Any STEM Majors preferred, all majors accepted Required Skills: Python, SQL Important Skills: Git Nice-to-Have Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Analytical skills
