Mechanical Engineering Intern at MetOx International in Houston, TX

Summary: MetOx International is pioneering the next era of energy security through superconducting technology. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced technical environment. Responsibilities: - Supports the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies related to Balance of Plant (BoP) systems and other engineering projects - Creates and modifies 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks - Assists engineers in evaluating design concepts and implementing design improvements to support equipment alignment, functionality, and manufacturability - Assists with basic engineering analysis and interpretation of simulation outputs, including FEA or CFD results, to support design decisions - Prepares technical documentation, drawings, and reports to support project execution and engineering reviews - Utilizes Microsoft Office tools to organize project data, track progress, and communicate findings - Works with cross-functional engineering teams to understand project requirements and translate them into mechanical design solutions - Participates in design discussions, technical reviews, and problem-solving activities with engineers and technical staff - Stays curious and engaged in learning new engineering tools, technologies, and best practices to support personal development and team success - Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - Actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field at an accredited university, with sophomore standing or above - Machine design and/or electrical control and system engineering - Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite - Proficiency using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software - Ability to read FEA/CFD results - Strong organizational and time management skills - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team - Eagerness to learn and contribute to meaningful projects Preferred Qualifications: - Previous internship or relevant work experience Required Skills: SolidWorks, Machine design, FEA/CFD analysis Important Skills: Microsoft Office Suite Nice-to-Have Skills: Eagerness to learn
