General Job Summary: General Job Summary: The Lead Resident Advisor will assist The Residential Program Manager in administering ongoing operations and activities of the therapeutic group home (TGH). Responsibilities include staff supervision and all aspects of consumer support. This position provides 24-hour coverage and supervision of the residential program home and maintains program consistency, safety, and stability for each of the residents. The Lead Resident Advisor is also responsible for fostering trusting relationships with residents in a consistent manner through use of the agency’s model of care while also implementing the program guidelines and structure. This position also works with families, volunteers, and community representatives in the home and community settings. The Lead Resident Adviser reports directly to the Residential Manager.
Essential Functions:
Medical:
- Review and ensure completion of all medical logs.
- Coordinate all medical appointments, ensure all related documentation is accurate and complete, attend appointments when needed.
- Ensure all medical recommendations and follow up are communicated and completed in a timely fashion.
- Relay all pertinent medical information to families, guardians, doctors, staff and work programs as needed.
- Weekly medication count logs per youth and as needed when medications are added and/or discontinued.
Supervision/Training:
- Coordinate/provide necessary agency and intra-program staff trainings;
- Provide staff with all necessary information needed to effectively carry out their job duties.
- Ensure proper communication of all consumer issues/needs to all necessary parties;
- Proactively teach/role model/guide staff on how to appropriately work with and interact with youth, other staff, families and guardians.
- Address staff concerns as needed; encourage staff to share ideas and suggestions.
- Inform supervisor about pertinent issues.
Other Essential Duties:
- Perform daily operational functions such as facility cleaning (interior & exterior) and minor maintenance, cooking, supply inventory, and other rotating assignments.
- Perform periodic inspections of the facility and coordinate corrective action plans to address the problems.
- Actively monitor all aspects of the physical property.
- Maintain all property in clean, safe attractive manner.
- Comply with guidelines for property maintenance and management.
- Maintain organization and functionality in the home.
- Drive agency vehicles for purpose of transporting youths and operating all facets of the treatment program.
- Transport youth for routine home activities, court appointments, medical appointments, family visits, other required appointments, and emergency situations.
- Address negative behaviors with a positive and mature attitude.
- Work a flexible work schedule each month providing consecutive 24-hour per day or other periods of coverage of the home as scheduled and on an as-needed or emergency basis.
- Provide primary and supplemental coverage, as scheduled by administrators, for homes other than those primarily assigned.
- Attend, and take advantage of, regularly scheduled in-service and specially scheduled training sessions.
- Maintain required certifications and re-certification for job by participating in available training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Residential Director or designee.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Knowledge & Experience
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college; or Associate’s Degree in related field and one (1) year experience working with client population; or High School Diploma and three (3) years working with client population.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience in trauma-informed care for specialized populations
- Knowledge of the dynamics of interpersonal violence (including sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking)
Skills/Working Conditions:
- Must maintain valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to work flexible schedule and shifts including overnights, weekends, holidays and extended periods of time.
- Must successfully complete all phases of pre-service and on-going training, including but not limited to, physical restraint training, First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, and medication administration.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, high pressure, high stress environment.
- Position may experience verbal and/or physical aggression from client population
- Possible exposure to infectious diseases.
- Primary work site is the group home
- Must be able to prepare meals for at least 10 or more.
- Must be able to provide 24-hour accessibility, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Must provide a negative drug screen result prior to employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and TB test and on-going physical assessments as required
- Have the ability to perform physical demands associated with daily operational functions, property management, and client maintenance, cooking, shopping, supplies inventory, and other rotating assignments.
- Have the ability to demonstrate organizational, management, and leadership skills.
- Have the ability to generate multiple solutions to meet the changing needs of clients, staff, and communities
- Have the ability to communicate professionally, in both verbal and written formats, with consumers, including, but not limited to parents, supervisees, colleagues, and community service providers.
- Have the ability to provide on-going visual and physical proximity supervision of clients.
- Have the ability to drive a 12 passenger van to transport youth
- Have the ability to participate in recreational activities with clients, including, but not limited to arts, athletics, and outdoor activities.
