Workplace Coordinator at Meter in San Francisco
Job Description
Why this role matters
At Meter, we’re rebuilding networking from the ground up (hardware, software, and operations) so that enterprises can finally have networks that are fast, secure, reliable, and evolve without friction. Workplace Operations plays a critical role in bringing that mission to life by creating an environment where our people can do their best work every day.
Workplace Coordinators are the first point of contact for visitors, setting the tone for their overall experience. They greet guests, assist with check-ins, and make sure everyone feels acknowledged and supported upon arrival.
This role is also a key connection point between all Meter office locations — coordinating shared systems, supplies, and standards so every Meter, no matter their zip code, has what they need to do great work.
This is a fully in-office role, based in our San Francisco office, serving as a consistent on-site presence for employees and guests.
What your day will look like
You'll spend much of your day at reception, as the first point of contact for guests, employees, prospects, and customers. Your warm, attentive presence sets the tone for everyone who enters the office.
Day to day, you will:
Greet and check in guests, employees, and vendors
Accept, sort, and route all incoming packages and mail
Maintain a consistent inventory of supplies and snacks across all offices, on a set cadence
Own the ordering process end to end — from tracking stock to placing and reconciling orders
Coordinate with other office locations to keep standards and systems consistent company-wide
What success looks like
At three months, you know every SF Meter. You are aware of patterns and habits of Meters, guests, and vendors. You accept all packages and mail and manage their final destination. You’ve implemented an ordering system for all Meter offices.
At six months, the function runs independently. You're anticipating problems, not reacting to them. People trust your judgment without needing to pressure-test your work.
At one year, you've raised the bar on how the Workplace Coordinator works. You're improving the function, not just maintaining it. You’ve learned to triage, troubleshoot, and solve a wide array of workplace issues. Employees come to you to solve problems and you are looking to increase your scope at Meter.
Who you are
You embody our culture of kindness, ambition, optimism, and paranoia, and take pride in creating environments where people feel welcomed and supported. The people you'll work with are genuinely kind and care deeply about doing great work. It's a supportive team that wants you to succeed, and expects the same ambition from you in return.
Additionally, you have good taste. You notice when something is off, you know what great looks like, and you care enough to fix it.
Beyond that:
You synthesize information and come with a recommendation, not just a summary of what happened
You carry context forward, prior decisions, established patterns, vendor history, without needing to be reminded
You follow through on straightforward next steps without someone checking in
You communicate clearly, in person and in writing, and people always know where things stand

Meter: the internet utility by Packy McCormick
Why Meter?
The internet runs the world. Every email you send, purchase you make, video call you join—it’s all packets flowing through networks. But those networks haven’t changed for decades. They’re brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise space.
We started Meter to build better networks. We had to build everything from the ground-up: designing and building our own enterprise hardware, intuitive software, and streamlined operations to deliver great outcomes for our customers. Today, we build and deploy these networks at scale. Ambitious companies and enduring institutions like Bridgewater, Lyft, Reddit, rely on Meter to keep their thousands of employees and locations online and productive.
Our bet with Meter is simple: we will all use the internet more than we do today. We believe we have the definitive networking stack in place to enable business to do so as seamlessly and reliably as any modern utility.
We’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive team and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. If you’re a California resident, you can learn more about how we handle applicant data here.
Compensation
The estimated pay range for this role is $24.00-$30.00 per hour.
