Accounting Coordinator
Reports to: Business Unit Controller
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Full-Time In-Office
Position Summary:
The Accounting Coordinator supports the accounting operations of the business unit by performing a variety of financial and administrative tasks. This role ensures accurate recordkeeping, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with company policies. The position works closely with internal teams and reports directly to the Business Unit Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinates and answers correspondence between business unit and Corporate office
Prepare, review, and maintain financial records, reports, and spreadsheets
Reviews payment journals, reviews and approved Overhead related vendor invoices
Maintain organized and up-to-date financial documentation and filing systems
Support internal and external audits by gathering required documentation
Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal departments regarding billing and payment inquiries
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards
Handles Avalara tax implementation and maintenance, compliance for the business unit sales tax exemptions.
Records automatic payments from bank account and ensures proper documentation is attached.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
3-5 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience
Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Skills:
Experience with ERP systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy
Work Environment
Full-time, in-office role (Monday–Friday)
Collaborative team environment with direct exposure to leadership
Deadline-driven, especially during month-end close
