Job Description
Summary: Mercuria is one of the world's largest independent energy and commodities trading groups, active across physical and financial markets in oil, gas, power, and other commodities. They are now accepting applications for their Spring and Summer 2027 Internship Program in the Americas, where interns will work alongside experienced professionals and gain practical exposure to the global energy and commodity markets.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly alongside experienced traders, analysts, risk managers, structurers, and operations professionals on live business activity
- Gain practical exposure to how global energy and commodity markets function day to day
- Placement across Trading, Risk, Structuring, Finance, or Operations teams
- Receive direct mentorship from senior professionals
- Obtain hands-on exposure to global commodity markets
- Participate in structured training combined with real project ownership
Required Qualifications:
- Students pursuing degrees in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related quantitative fields
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel
- Familiarity with AI/machine learning tools and data-driven analysis (e.g., using AI tools for research, modeling, or automation)
- Genuine interest in energy and commodity markets
- Clear communicators who are comfortable working with incomplete information and tight timelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Python or SQL is a plus
- Prior internship, research, or extracurricular experience (e.g., investment/trading clubs, case competitions) is a plus
