The Medtronic Tempe Campus in Arizona is looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team, leading the development of semiconductor equipment and manufacturing technologies for new and released products. The Engineering Manager will lead the Process Development team in developing and transferring to manufacturing leading edge technologies that will enable and enhance next-generation products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for leadership, innovation and the development of new processes that benefit the patients we serve and support Medtronic’s Mission to Alleviate Pain, Restore Health and Extend Life.
The Engineering Manager will have both functional management and project management responsibilities for equipment and process development of semiconductor manufacturing technologies. Functional management focus will include, but not be limited to team members’ personal and career development, providing guidance and tools to enable the team’s success, focusing on operational excellence of the team’s work, and providing input to the AME organization’s long-term strategy. Project management focus will include, but not be limited to leading a cross-site, cross-functional team, creating development schedules and managing the execution of work to meet timelines.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Leads the development of new technologies / processes from initial scouting through process development, validation and manufacturing release
Leads a direct team of Process Engineers and Technicians through coaching, leadership support and management of performance expectations
Supports and drives a culture of safety, open communication, collaboration and ethical behavior
Sets team performance expectations and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drives accountability that aligns with organizational strategy to deliver on business and project goals
Monitors team performance and implements standards, metrics and systems to improve operational excellence
Develops and manages schedules and systems to monitor progress of process development and mechanical design projects
Communicates with internal and external stakeholders on project progress, risks and needs
Supports and drives a culture of DRM and significant technical rigor
Works closely with Product Development teams, Manufacturing Operations and business partners to drive and integrate DRM principles resulting in robust processes
Works closely with Manufacturing Operations teams to ensure voice of customer and operations needs are met before transfer to manufacturing
Identifies, develops and evaluates talent pursuant to exceeding business objectives and establishing a pipeline for sustained success
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A).
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience.
Nice to Have
Process or Product Development Experience
Experience with Process Validation or Design Control processes and regulations
Demonstrated project management experience
Experience with DRM / DFSS, Lean Sigma, or Green/Black Belt Lean Sigma
Medical device manufacturing regulations and controls
Proficient in use of Microsoft office products for means of creating and conveying technical information and presentations.
Knowledge of DOE, statistical analysis methods and data analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, etc.).
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Experience with semiconductor manufacturing
Exposure to microfabrication/MEMS processes including photolithography, thin-film deposition, and patterning techniques
Experience in developing a process from concept to transfer in manufacturing and/or experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Benefits & Compensation
Medtronic offers a competitive Salary and flexible Benefits Package
Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$142,400.00 - $213,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
