Job Description
Summary: McMaster-Carr is a company that stocks and distributes a wide range of products, focusing on creating exceptional customer experiences. They are seeking a Data Analyst to support merchandising efforts through data analysis and system building, with responsibilities including developing business solutions, creating reports, and conducting customer behavioral analyses.
Responsibilities:
- Develop business solutions that align with strategy and represent customer needs understood through data analysis and research
- Create reports to monitor customer impact and operational progress
- Write clean and well-documented queries
- Design and build data pipelines that serve as the basis for rich reporting
- Conduct analyses of customer behavioral data to draw trends and identify opportunities
- Evaluate solutions that enable teammates to solve problems not currently supported by existing tools or that influence how our business focuses efforts to maximize customer impact
- Validate the impact of key metrics on long-term business objectives in a statistically rigorous manner
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree is required for this role
- Strong analytical & critical thinking ability
- Demonstrated ability and interest in using data to drive business decisions
- Proficiency in SQL, Python (including common libraries such as NumPy and Pandas), and Microsoft Office
- Experience writing clean and well-documented code
- 1-2 years of professional experience in related fields such as analytics, data science, or other similar areas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 1-2 statistical methods used in data analysis, such as decision trees, clustering, A/B analysis, or regression
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Quantitative Methods (Social Science) or related field
- HTML, Javascript, Neo4J
