Position Summary:

Under the direction of a library staff member, the student assistant processes music scores in-house and/or prepares music scores for commercial binding. Tasks may include database entry, label production, sewing, gluing, and housing and reorganizing library materials. Secondary duties may also include circulating materials of various formats, answering basic inquiries from users, and contributing to the processing and organizing of library materials. May be required to open and/or close the library, perform emergency evacuation procedures, and perform other supplementary tasks as assigned.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Excellent knowledge of music and music materials, preferably with some formal training. Knowledge of music score formats. Demonstrated organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail. Ability to cope with physical requirements: handling, carrying, and lifting library materials. Demonstrated ability to clearly transmit and receive information. Library or similar experience preferred. English: spoken, read and written. French: spoken and read. McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
