The Faculty of Engineering, Dean’s Office, is seeking to hire 10 to 12 Student Research Assistants to assist with the ECQ French technical terminology Project.
The Research Assistant shall dedicate up to 20 hours per week from May 2026 to September 2026 and shall be responsible for meeting regularly with an instructor-partner as well as with the Project core team, as well as fulfill a variety of roles, with the main role being researching French technical terminology and their common use in industry in their discipline in consultation with the instructor-partners.
Primary Responsibilities
- Attend weekly 30-minute team meetings.
- Attend regular meetings with the instructor partners.
- Support and conduct tasks agreed upon with instructor and project team.
- Conduct targeted research on French technical terminology and its industry usage.
- Perform project research tasks (e.g., gather terminology, review documents, compile examples, organize datasets, prepare reference materials, conduct interviews, obtain consent to post interviews as training materials).
- Support content creation.
- Analyze terminology data and contribute to summaries or draft project materials.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of your own work.
- Complete administrative tasks related to the project.
- Dedicate up to 20 hours per week from May–September 2026.
Job Requirements/Minimum Education/ Experience
- Possesses subject matter expertise acquired through undergraduate studies in various Engineering programs at McGill.
- Active McGill student in various Engineering programs at McGill
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Students applying should indicate knowledge/experience in any of the following areas:
- Advanced proficiency in French, both written and spoken
- Organization and time management skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to interact with instructors
- Familiarity with web conferencing technology (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
