Position Summary:
The Neuro Imaging and Surgical Technologies Laboratory (nist.mni.mcgill.ca) in the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre at the Montreal Neurological Institute (McGill University) is looking to fill the position of a casual Research Assistant 2. The candidate’s main role will be to prepare data for the design, implementation, and validation of data-processing and statistical-analysis workflows for longitudinal studies of cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease. The candidate will work with researchers to integrate and harmonize cognitive, demographic, genetic, biomarker, and MRI data from large multisite cohorts.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Curate, integrate, and quality-control longitudinal cognitive, clinical, demographic, genetic, fluid-biomarker, and MRI-derived data from large multisite cohorts;
- Examine whether Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers, cerebrovascular disease, genetic risk, and measures of brain structure or neurodegeneration have expected associations with cognitive trajectories in females and males;
- Evaluate methods for cross-cohort and cross-site harmonization, comparison, and validation;
- Implement rigorous data-quality checks, sensitivity analyses, and validation procedures.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have at least a master’s degree in neuroscience, epidemiology, biostatistics, computer science, biomedical engineering, psychology, or a related field, ideally with at least two years of postgraduate research experience. Strong experience in statistical programming and data analysis using R and/or Python is required. Applicants should have experience with longitudinal or multilevel statistical models, management of large research datasets, reproducible analysis workflows, and scientific visualization. Experience with Alzheimer’s disease research, cognitive data, neuroimaging, multisite cohort data, sex- or gender-based analysis, causal inference, or machine learning would be strong assets. Excellent oral and written communication skills, careful attention to data quality, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment are essential.
