Job Description
Summary: MasTec Renewables, including Wanzek Construction, provides construction services in the renewable energy sector. The Skilled Laborer-Electric installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems and equipment while following safety procedures and collaborating with electricians. The role may require travel to different jobsites on limited notice.
Responsibilities:
- Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
- Complete all required Safety documentation
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems
- Reading technical diagrams and blueprints
- Inspecting transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components
- Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues, ensuring system integrity and functionality
- Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, saws, and electrical testing equipment
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
- Identify and repair breakdowns, faults and malfunctions
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using handtools and power tools
- Collaborate with electricians to complete installations according to project specifications and timelines
- May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and twelve months of related experience in construction
- Or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company's Zero Injury principles
- Proficient with electrical tools and equipment, including power drills, saws, meters and testing devices
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and installation techniques
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme heat
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
