Summary: Mass General Brigham is a not-for-profit organization focused on advancing patient care, research, teaching, and community service. They are seeking a motivated Bioinformatician I to assist in analyzing biological data using bioinformatics tools, collaborate with research teams, and support the development of data analysis pipelines. Responsibilities: - Apply existing and novel algorithms to various project data sets, critically review and analyze results - Design and develop analysis approaches and workflows and novel software tools for large data sets from different sources - Present results effectively to clinicians, experimental and computational scientists - Quantitative digital image analysis: contribute to the downstream computational analysis pipelines quantitating digital images under the supervision of a staff or faculty member. Contributions will also include: assisting with hypothesis generation, experimental design, and data interpretation - Quantification and interpretation of spatial transcriptomics data using established analytic pipelines as well as work to develop new methods exploring basic biology of disease - Other responsibilities include assisting the Tumor Cartography Core Manager in the maintenance and operation of imaging platforms in the group. Common tasks include training new users on advanced microscopy systems and performing image analysis using high-end commercial analysis software and computational languages such as R or Python - Assist in the analysis of biological data using bioinformatics tools and software - Perform data processing, quality control, and database maintenance - Collaborate with research teams to understand their data analysis needs - Support the development and implementation of data analysis pipelines - Conduct basic statistical analyses and data visualization - Participate in the interpretation and presentation of results - Working under very general supervision, the Bioinformatics Analyst will have demonstrated independent design and innovation in one or more of the following areas of specialization: algorithm development, data analysis, quality assurance/testing, pipeline software/computing development, user interface design & report development, web-based application development, or report development Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree Computational Biology required - Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required - Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred - Demonstrated experience in infrastructure, programming languages, and computational sciences - Demonstrated ability working with open-source bioinformatics software - Possess strong analytical skills, including critical thinking, data modeling, problem solving, and troubleshooting - Strong organizational and interpersonal skills - Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to all levels of staff - Excellent time management skills Preferred Qualifications: - Computational Sciences Experience 0-1 year preferred Required Skills: Computational Biology, Data Analysis, Algorithm Development Important Skills: Bioinformatics Software, Statistical Analysis Nice-to-Have Skills: Data Visualization Benefits: Comprehensive benefits, Career advancement opportunities, Differentials, Premiums and bonuses as applicable, Recognition programs designed to celebrate your contributions and support your professional growth
