Job Description
Summary: Union Tank Car Company, part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking a Summer Intern for their Business Process Analysis Team. The intern will focus on translating business problems into data-driven solutions, utilizing skills in SQL and Power BI to support business analysis and project management initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Proficient in SQL (writing/optimizing queries across multiple tables for extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis) and DAX for modeling and measures in Power BI
- Able to design, build, and maintain dashboards and automated reporting that supports KPI monitoring, operational visibility, and stakeholder decision-making
- Comfortable working with multiple data sources, performing data analysis, identifying gaps/inconsistencies, and supporting data quality checks/standardization (e.g., profiling, cleanse rules, documentation of findings)
- Will lead a capstone effort to build a master data table, coordinating requirements and definitions with business process owners, subject matter experts, and IT, and translating those requirements into a usable, governed dataset
- Brings structured execution skills—planning work, tracking progress, documenting decisions, and identifying opportunities to improve processes through analytics and standard work
- A proactive team player who works well with others, communicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and can turn business questions into actionable analytical outputs
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance or accounting
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Ability to work in a team environment
