Job Description
Summary: Manhattan Star Academy is seeking an Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Intern to gain supervised experience in lesson planning, direct instruction, and assessment for iHOPE students. The role requires the intern to complete a minimum of 350 hours in alignment with certification requirements for the Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS).
Responsibilities:
- A supervised internship experience in orientation and mobility (O&M), encompassing lesson planning, direct instruction of iHOPE students, assessment, and paperwork (session notes, etc.)
- Students are expected to accrue a minimum of 350 hours of internship experience, in alignment with the requirements of the Academy for the Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) for the Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) qualification
Required Qualifications:
- Current student enrolled in a relevant program
- Ability to accrue a minimum of 350 hours of internship experience
- Alignment with the requirements of the Academy for the Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) for the Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) qualification
