Job Description
Summary: Magna International is a leading mobility technology company with over 65 years of expertise in the automotive space. They are seeking a Maintenance Intern to gain hands-on experience in supporting equipment reliability and maintenance initiatives, contributing to projects that enhance safety and plant efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Support facility improvement and sustainability projects, such as energy conservation initiatives, lighting upgrades and waste reduction efforts
- Assist in tracking and reporting sustainability metrics related to utilities, recycling and environmental performance
- Assist in the setup and organization of the maintenance material system, including cataloging spare parts and creating standardize storage layouts
- Participate in ongoing maintenance projects that improve equipment uptime, safety and efficiency
- Assist technicians in preventative and corrective maintenance activities under supervision
- Follow all Magna and OSAH safety policies and ensure proper use of tolls and equipment
- Particiapte in Lean and 5S initiatives to enhance organization and safety within maintenance areas
Required Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing systems
- Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work safely in a hands-on industrial environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Currently in a technical, Engineering or Skilled Trades program such as Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedure and general workplace safety
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework or lab experience in equipment maintenance, automation or manufacturing systems preferred
- Previous hands-on or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- Familiarity with PM Programs, CMMS software or maintenance tracking systems preferred
- Interest in Lean Manufacturing and equipment reliability improvement methods
