Summary: M&T Bank is offering a 10-week summer internship in Mortgage Operations, providing students with hands-on experience in the mortgage lending process. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals to learn about mortgage applications, regulatory compliance, and customer service in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: - Learn the end-to-end mortgage process, including how loans move from origination through underwriting, processing, and closing within Mortgage Operations - Work closely with Mortgage Operations teams to understand their role in supporting Loan Officers and serving as a primary point of contact for M&T mortgage customers once applications move into Operations - Review and organize data from the Mortgage Loan Origination System to track key operational metrics and identify trends in mortgage pipeline performance - Analyze operational performance and connect insights to customer outcomes, including reviewing customer feedback and complaint trends - Assist with mapping the end-to-end mortgage workflow, identifying process gaps, inefficiencies, or bottlenecks, and supporting continuous improvement efforts - Support daily operational activities while learning how Mortgage Operations balances efficiency, funding volume, credit quality, and regulatory compliance - Work under direct supervision while developing communication, time management, and teamwork skills - Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite - Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management - Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand - Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable - Complete other related duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing or had recently completed their high school diploma - Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn - Availability to work for the full 10-week summer program with reliable transportation - Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Preferred Qualifications: - Prior office or administrative experience is a plus - Strong interest in customer service, business, or financial services - Strong communication and organizational skills Required Skills: Mortgage Operations Important Skills: Microsoft Office, Customer Service Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer
