The Role
LUZCO is looking for a Construction Inspector to support transmission line, distribution, and substation construction projects. In this role, you'll spend time in the field monitoring contractor work, verifying compliance with project specifications, documenting progress, identifying issues, and helping ensure projects are completed safely and to quality standards.
The ideal candidate has utility construction experience, can read and interpret construction drawings, and is comfortable working independently in active construction environments.
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Perform field inspections of transmission, distribution, and substation construction projects
- Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, standards, and safety requirements
- Conduct field audits to verify construction quality and project progress
- Identify and document deficiencies, non-conformances, and safety concerns
- Communicate field observations and construction issues to project teams and clients
- Prepare daily inspection reports, photographs, and project documentation
- Participate in project meetings and provide field updates
- Support constructability reviews and commissioning activities as needed
- Collect and manage field data using tablets, laptops, mobile devices, GPS equipment, drones, and other inspection tools
- Promote safe work practices and report safety concerns according to established procedures
- Support multiple projects while meeting deadlines and project requirements
- Up to 50% travel required - Overnight travel may be required, including extended stays near project sites
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring to the Familia
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Extensive construction experience required
- Utility construction experience preferred
- Journeyman line experience preferred
- Knowledge of transmission, distribution, and substation construction practices required
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and standards
- Familiarity with NESC and utility construction standards is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile technology used for field reporting
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
