Research Technologist at Lovelace Biomedical in US-NM-Albuquerque

Summary: Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is a not for profit research center dedicated to the cure of respiratory disease. They are seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Research Technologist, responsible for conducting moderately complex work assignments, documenting laboratory work, and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. Responsibilities: - Document laboratory work and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies - Collaborate with research staff - Independently conduct testing and review results for accuracy and completeness - Display a strong ability and willingness to be cross trained by experienced team members in a multidisciplinary biomedical scientific team Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, physics or similar, or associates degree in mechanical technology or similar field with 0-3 years of directly related research experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained - Experience in a broad background of scientific fields including aerosol sciences, mechanical engineering, and analytical chemistry - Previous laboratory experience working with aerosol sciences - Excellent record keeping and organizational skills - Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel - Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident in order to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) - Ability to collaborate with research staff, independently conduct testing and review results for accuracy and completeness - Ability and willingness to be cross trained by experienced team members in a multidisciplinary biomedical scientific team - Ability to operate standard laboratory equipment - Ability to perform laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity - Ability to perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds - Ability to wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator - Ability to work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations Preferred Qualifications: - Additional competencies within electrical engineering, toxicology and pharmacology Required Skills: Aerosol sciences, Mechanical engineering, Analytical chemistry, Electrical engineering, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Laboratory equipment operation, Laboratory techniques, Record keeping, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel Benefits: $500 sign-on bonus
