Job Description:
Widespread die-back of Phragmites australis in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana continues to pose a threat to the stability of coastal-marsh habitats. A post-graduate research associate is needed to assist with continuing research on this plant species. The successful candidate will assist with experimental studies involving soil microbial associates of Phragmites. Specifically, the candidate will assist with experiments to assess the impact of various soil microbes on Phragmites growth and secondary chemistry. The candidate will be expected to participate in data analysis, preparation of reports and supervision of undergraduate student workers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences (e.g., Biological sciences, entomology, wildlife biology), a valid Louisiana driver’s license, and experience working with insects and plants. Additional experience with data collection and culturing microbial species preferred. .
